We had requested a non-smoking room. When we first arrived at the hotel we were told that the room was not ready and that we had been allocated a non-smoking room. However when we returned to the hotel a couple of hours later we were told that there were no non-smoking rooms left. We had no option but to take a smoking room with the receptionist saying that if the room smell was bad he would change us to another. We had asked for a double bed but found the room we were allocated had twin beds, the people in the room opposite had just moved rooms and had a double bed so we orchestrated our own swap! Just after we had completely unpacked the receptionist rang to say he would have a non-smoking room in an hours time! As there was an opening window, effective air conditioning and laminate flooring the room was not too bad and we elected to stay in it rather than pack & unpack again. We were disappointed that we had this problem. Luckily the room we had did not reek of tobacco and did not affect us. It was a shame they insisted they had no non-smoking rooms at all as they must have known one would be available later at the time we checked in and we would have waited for it.

Top Tip

Valencia is a beautiful city. We were there for the Fallas fiesta 15-19 March, which was amazing. It was very crowded because of the fiesta and we will be going back to do the museums, churches etc when it is not so busy. Food & drink are quite expensive for Spain. The tapas bar Lizarran is great (in a pedestrian side street near off the Town Hall Sq towards Estacion del Nord and the bull ring.
